2018 Color of the Year: Ultra Violet

Every year, the color matching company, Pantone, announces their choice for the Color of the Year. This year, Pantone officially declared the Color of the Year is…Ultra Violet, a color described as a dramatically provocative and thoughtful shade of purple. That works out great for me because I love an Ultra Violet lip color. While most people reach for a shade of red to add a pop of color or drama, I typically go for a shade of purple.  I already own a few lip sticks and glosses in the newly crowned Color of the Year. However, I plan to use this opportunity to pick up at least one or two (or four) more.

Favorite Ultra Violet lip colors

Cosmetic company Butter of London, created an entire line of nail polishes and lip colors based on the Pantone Color of the Year. I currently have one of Butter’s Ultra Violet lip glosses in heavy rotation. The good news is, Ultra Violet is a color that looks good on just about every complexion. And although you might not think so, it’s also a very versatile color. The right shade can work perfectly for a daytime professional look and equally well at night.

Whether it’s lilac, fuchsia, violet, or purple, I’m all in. Here are a few of my favorite Ultra Violet lip colors. I wonder if there’s any chance that there could be a back-to-back, two-time Color of the Year?
