Glossier Trifecta: Boy Brow, Cloud Paint, and Lash Slick

Watching people panic shop for essential items during the coronavirus pandemic makes me think. What are the makeup essential? I’ve already expressed my love of mascara in a prior post, so mascara is definitely first on the list. But, what else?

Eye brows are arguably the most impactful facial feature. As a result, brow grooming can make or break your overall look. However, that doesn’t mean you should shoot for bold brows that stand out. Brows should naturally blend in with the rest of your look and impeccably groomed. Add brow grooming product to the list.

My makeup aesthetic is healthy, glowing, faux-natural glam. Although I love using a highlighter to amp up the glow factor, nothing gives you an instantly healthy look quite like swipe of blush. Not only does blush add an invigorating pop of color, the right color can also create an amazing glow-from-within appearance. In that regard, blush performs double duty. Blush makes the list.

So to recap, we’ve got mascara, brow groomer, and blush on the list of essential makeup items. Luckily, the Glossier is like minded and sells those exact three products in “The Makeup Set.” This Glossier set includes the popular Boy Brow, Lash Slick, and Cloud Paint. You can purchase the trio of essentials for $40 (a 20% savings compared to buying each item individually) at Glossier.com.

Boy Brow fills, shapes, and keeps brows in place with an easy to apply pomade. The applicator resembles a teeny-tiny mascara wand. The size and shape allows precise and strategic buildable placement. I love it because I have one naturally great eyebrow (the left one) that only needs a little filling, but that rebel on the right needs a lot of filling and shape to make them both symmetrical. The end result is natural, impeccably groomed brows. Boy Brow comes in four shades — clear, brown, blonde, and black.

Lash Slick (love that name) is the Glossier mascara that lengthens and separates to create beautiful “maybe she’s born with it” shiny lashes. Like Boy Brow, the end result is very natural. You can amp up the drama a bit by using the mascara with a lash curler, but this is not the product for a fake lash look. What I like most about this mascara is that it’s smudge-resistant, yet it comes off easily with just warm water. No extra makeup remover needed.

The third item of the Glossier trifecta is Cloud Paint, a cream blush and my first Glossier purchase. The buildable gel-cream blush comes in six shades, all very wearable on most complexions. Because it’s buildable, you can control the amount of flushed glow you get from this product. Don’t be daunted by the small package because a little bit goes a long way. Cloud Paint can be easily applied with your fingertips allowing you to apply precisely where you want it. Pro Tip: After I apply with my fingertips, I use a Beauty Blender on the edges to create a seamless look.

All three product in The Makeup Set are solid additions to any makeup collection. When used together you’ve got three products that can create a polished look in just a few minutes. And because the products are so small, you can easily tuck them in your makeup bag to use whenever you need it. Practical, easy, impactful — all essential qualities for any essential items.
