Of all the rooms in your home, the master bedroom is the one most often referred to as a sanctuary. It’s the area of the house that provides peace, tranquility, and comfort. It’s where the magic happens. Designing a room that inspires magic creates a lot of pressure. And I’ve added to that pressure because I want to be amazed every time I walk into my bedroom. I want to think about laying in my bedroom when I’m at work. And I want to miss my bedroom even when I’m staying at the swankiest resort.
I have a good amount of space to play with, which is great. The basic bones of the room are good. And I already have some solid pieces. The walls are grey, so grey is going to be a big part of my color palette. The dresser and vanity are antiqued with a white washed finished. So, those are deets. Now, I just have to figure out my overall design direction.
The design styles I like the most are Hollywood Regency, Neoclassic, and Parisian Chic. I like the drama of black accents and I’m currently obsessing over the mix of gold and silver finishes. I was recently scrolling through Interior Designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s IG account where he posted a picture of his Hollywood living room. He mixed English club chairs with Anglo Indian furniture, Italian lighting, and contemporary art. It’s a stunning room! He ends the post with the words, “It’s all in the mix.” Maybe I’ll find a way to add multiple elements from my design inspirations for one great mix! Thoughts and opinions welcomed. New purchases and updates coming soon…
