As vitamins go, Vitamin C gets an A+ for it’s many beneficial attributes. For skin, Vitamin C is touted as a brightener and an aid in maintaining elasticity. For those reasons, Vitamin C has been a major part of my skin care regimen for years. I was once devoted to a particular Vitamin C serum that claimed to brighten skin and fade acne scars. I spent tons of money buying my beloved serum, and I was content. And then one day, the clouds parted, the angels started singing, and COSRX Triple C Lighting Liquid appeared on my doorstep. Well, actually I just ordered it online and some random Amazon dude in a crapy car delivered it. So, Triple C doesn’t come from the heavens, but it is divine!
Triple C Lighting Liquid contains 20.5% pure Vitamin C (or ascorbic acid), which promotes radiant, healthy skin, and fades hyper pigmentation. Most Vitamin C serums on the market contain 15% or less (win #1). This serum also contains 72% black chokeberry, an ingredient that aids skin in hydration (win #2). But wait, there’s more! At $27, Triple C is a bargain (win #3). A comparable serum that contains 15% ascorbic acid will run you $80.
This stuff is so bomb that the 1 oz. bottles are made in small batches and air shipped directly from Korea to ensure the serums are fresh. However, making small batches also means the serum sells out quickly once it’s restocked. I buy two at a time. Per my Korean 10-step skin care routine, I apply the serum after my essence and before my moisturizer. The description of Triple C on Soko Glam indicates that you may experience some irritation if you’re new to using Vitamin C or have sensitive skin. It is suggested that you mix the serum with your moisturizer first. If you don’t experience any irritation, you can start applying the serum directly to your skin. I never experienced any irritation and simply use 2-3 drops a couple times a week (at night only).
The Takeaway
For a person who still deals with acne breakouts and the scarring left behind in it’s wake, Triple C Lighting Liquid has been a game changer. I don’t have to rely on a heavy, full-coverage foundation to fake the appearance of clear skin. In fact, I can walk out the door with a little concealer around my nose (to hide the very visible capillary veins) and feel totally confident. Beside water, this serum has become the major contributor to my good skin days. Simply put, COSRX Triple C Lighting Liquid is good AF.
