Product Review: Zombie Pack Face Mask
I love face masks. Sheet masks, gel masks, cream masks, charcoal masks, I love them all. And I’m always game for trying something new. With the plethora of face masks on the market, I’ll never have a shortage of products to try. When I heard about the Zombie Pack Face Mask, I was overly anxious to try it. What this mask claims to do is remarkable: tightens pores, clears, hydrates, lifts and brightens skin, smooths texture, removes dead skin cells, and balances pH levels. Exciting, right? Did I also mention that your skin will look like something out of a horror movie while the mask is on? Still excited? So was I.
Of course, this crazy, new mask is a product of the K-beauty industry. The Zombie Pack Face Mask is a self-mixing mask that comes with a powder and liquid activator which is applied with an enclosed brush. The box I purchased on Amazon for $17.99 provides material for 8 applications. The first time I mixed the mask, I was thrown off by the sulfur-like smell. But, I’m a beauty crusader, so I continued the application for the sake of beauty advancement.
The consistency of the mixed mask is similar to beaten egg whites. About 3 minutes after the mask is applied, you start to feel the mask tightening on your face. The directions state that you can leave the mask on for 10 – 15 minutes. But at the 9:50 mark, I started to rapidly pat my face to try to relive the discomfort from the tightening. At 10:15 in, I literally ran to the bathroom to wash the mask off — which wasn’t that easy. Not only is the mixed mask the consistency of egg whites, it dries like egg whites too.
After I washed the mask off, I noticed a slightly brighter complexion and slightly smaller pores. I know that you have to use a product more than once to see a true difference. So, even though the first go round wasn’t very pleasant, I was determined to give the Zombie Pack Face Mask a chance. I decided to include the mask as a part of my skin care routine a couple of times a week.
During the second trial, when the mask began to tighten, instead of patting my face, I moved my face around to loosen up the mask. As it turns out, moving your face is what gives you the “zombie” look. I had cracks all over my face, but movement definitely helped with the discomfort. The second time, I was able to leave the mask on for the full 15 minutes. Four trials later, my pores look a little smaller and my complexion seems brighter. I can’t say that this mask is a game changer because I believe I can get similar results with other masks. But, I don’t regret the purchase, and I’m glad that I took the Zombie Mask challenge.
The Takeaway
The Zombie Pack Face Mask does deliver on some of it claims — brightening skin and tightening pores. The smell is a definite drawback as well as the amount effort it takes to wash it off. However, it worth trying just to post creepy Instagram photos.
