IT Cosmetics CC Cream

I recently ran out of my two favorite foundations (Fenty Beauty and MAC Studio Fix) — bummer. On the bright side, my loss presents the perfect opportunity to purchase a few popular foundations like Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Shameless Foundation and Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk Foundation. By the way, one of those much-hyped products is a dud (details coming in a future post). While foraging through my vanity drawers to find something to substitute for foundation,  I see a Sephora sample of IT Cosmetics CC Cream Your Skin But Betterâ„¢. I already have plans to pair down my Summer makeup routine and try a BB or CC Cream in place of a full-coverage foundation. Well, there’s no time like the present. Let’s give it a try!

A CC (Color Correcting) Cream is similar to a BB (Beauty Balm) Cream in that it’s an all-in-one foundation, moisturizer, primer, and SPF. However, a CC Cream also treats uneven skin tone. IT Cosmetics CC Cream promises a full, flawless coverage that  increases hydration, smooths texture, and enhances brightness. The formula is infuses an advanced antiaging serum made of hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, niacin, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and antioxidants that work to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and pores to create a radiant, flawless-looking complexion. IT Cosmetics offers 7 shades from Fair to Rich. My shade is Tan.

I apply the cream, sans primer, with a foundation brush from Sephora (#56 PRO Flawless Airbrush). The texture is somewhere between lotion and foundation. Although a CC cream is also a moisturizer, I apply it over my normal face cream. Considering there are only 7 shades, I’m very impressed with the color match. Tan is a little bit darker than my natural skin tone. However, I’m sure I’ll actually tan during the summer so this shade will be an even better match.

I’m also like with the coverage. The CC cream manages to cover the things I want to hide (hyper-pigmentation and redness) and allows some of my real skin features to shine through (beauty marks and freckles). Because the finish is rather dewy, I apply a little setting powder on my t-zone. By the end of the day, the CC cream is still holding strong. It’s a little oily around my nose, but I can live with that.

The Takeaway

I am so happy with the results that I got a full-sized bottle at Sephora. The lightweight formula and easy application makes this a winner for my minimal summer makeup routine.
