Operation Home Decorating: My First Home

After living in military housing for many years, we finally pulled the trigger and bought a house last year. Although finding a home was much easier than I thought it would be, filling the house is not as simple. Each room is like a blank canvas waiting for someone to create something beautiful. But unlike a painting canvas, a room has to be functional as well as beautiful.

Even though my home decorating project is in its early stages, there’s one thing I know for sure. Patience is not only a virtue, it’s an absolute necessity. Resisting the urge to fill your entire house as quickly as possible is real. Every time I look at my Instagram feed or Pinterest board, pictures of beautiful homes and interior design inspire me and make me want to go out and buy everything. However, I practice pushing my urges aside and I’m taking it slow. I think of it as a journey and the destination is a home that reflects my style and is distinctly me. And just like my health and beauty journey, I’m sure there will be trials and errors and plenty of lessons to learn. Here goes…
